Bringing Our Children to Jesus

We’re deeply committed to introducing children to the God in whom we live and move and have our being. When the disciples sought to prevent the children from coming to Jesus, he rebuked them and went so far as to say that the kingdom of God belongs to those “such as these.” Far be it from us to disagree with Jesus! At Nativity, then, we take seriously the formation of God’s children, and we look forward to partnering with you in your children’s spiritual formation.

Faith Formation at Nativity begins in first grade with weekly catechesis. Students in second grade receive additional sacramental preparation for their First Reconciliation and First Communion. Students in seventh grade also receive additional sacramental preparation for their Confirmation as eighth graders. Though students are fully confirmed in eighth grade, they are certainly not fully formed. In fact, at Nativity, we think of faith formation as something that happens throughout the whole of our lives. Therefore, we desire for our students to continue their formation in Nativity’s youth group. Our youth are not only the future of our church, they are also her present.

Some students, such as those at Nativity School, undergo Faith Formation in their various schools. Others, however, attend non-Catholic schools, are homeschooled, or moved to St. Paul from outside the diocese. Whatever your family’s context, we welcome your children to our Faith Formation program here at Nativity!

Faith Formation Details:
This 26-27 academic year, there is a reduction in the price of Faith Formation:
- Faith Formation will cost $50 per student with $150 being the maximum amount that a family will have to pay.
- This price reduction includes those students who are in sacramental prep years (2nd and 7th grades).
- We long for every child and family to know and love Jesus as friend and brother, no child will be denied Faith Formation because of cost. Please do not hesitate to reach out should your family need financial support!
Date and Time:
- Faith Formation will begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Nativity School.
- Classes will run from 6:30 - 7:45pm.
- The last session prior to Christmas break will be December 16, 2026.
- Classes will culminate in a May Crowning service. More information will be released as we draw nearer to the date!
- There will be no classes on the following dates:
  - MEA Weekend - October 14, 2026
  - Thanksgiving - November 25, 2026
  - Ash Wednesday - February 10, 2027
  - Holy Week - March 24, 2027

**For those Nativity parishioners that homeschool their children and have them enrolled in other forms of catechesis, you are able to register your children for the sacraments only. Please note that our Archdiocese requires that these students first contact the Director of Formation and Evangelization for approval. Furthermore, these students must also participate in a few required sacramental preparation sessions. Your children will not be registered for the sacraments until you have made contact with the Director of Formation and Evangelization.
